Privacy Policy
Your data, and what KeepHold does with it
Last updated: September 12, 2026
This policy explains what KeepHold collects, why, and who else ever sees it. We've tried to write it in plain language rather than boilerplate — if anything here is unclear, reach out and ask.
Who this policy covers
KeepHold ("the app," "we," "us") is currently operated by Gael Tam, an individual doing business as KeepHold, pending formation of a dedicated LLC (The Gaëlo Outcome, LLC). This policy applies to everyone who uses the KeepHold mobile app.
Information we collect
What you give us directly
- Account information: your email address and password (handled entirely by our authentication provider, Supabase — we never see or store your password in plain text).
- Household & inventory data: household names, member lists, and the items you log — names, brands, models, categories, purchase dates, prices, and any notes or warranty/insurance details you add.
- Photos: photos of items, receipts, and warranty/proof-of-purchase documents that you choose to attach. Photos are compressed on your device before upload to keep file sizes small.
- Support & feedback messages: your name, the message itself, and basic device info (platform, OS version, device model, app version) when you contact us or send feedback.
What's generated by using the app
- Subscription status: whether you're on the free or paid tier, managed through RevenueCat. Actual payment is handled entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play — KeepHold and RevenueCat never see your card details.
- Push notification token: a device identifier used only to deliver maintenance reminders and product-recall alerts you've opted into.
How we use your information
- To operate the core app — storing and syncing your household's inventory across devices and members.
- To power optional features you choose to use: AI photo scanning to auto-fill item details, owner's-manual lookup, warranty/recall alerts, and insurance-ready reports.
- To respond to support requests and feedback.
- To process subscription payments and manage entitlements.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising. KeepHold does not run any analytics or crash-reporting software — nothing about how you use the app is tracked beyond what's needed to make the features above work.
Third-party services we rely on
KeepHold is built on a small number of infrastructure and feature providers. Each only receives the specific data described below — never your full account or inventory.
| Service | Used for | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, authentication, and photo storage | All account and inventory data described above (this is our primary infrastructure, running on Amazon Web Services) |
| RevenueCat | Subscription management | An anonymous account identifier and entitlement status |
| Apple App Store / Google Play | Payment processing | Your payment details, handled entirely by Apple/Google — never seen by KeepHold |
| Google (Gemini API) | Optional AI photo scanning, only when you tap "Scan" | The single photo you're scanning, sent solely to extract structured details. See Google's Privacy Policy for how they handle API inputs — this is outside our control. |
| Brave Search API | Optional owner's-manual lookup | Only the item's brand and model as text — never a photo or account info. Results are cached and may be reused for other users searching the same product. |
| Expo push notification service | Delivering maintenance and recall alerts | Your device's push token and the alert content |
| Resend | Delivering support/feedback emails to us | The message you send, your name, and your account email |
Data storage & security
Your data is stored in Supabase's managed Postgres database and private file storage, both running on Amazon Web Services infrastructure. Photos live in a private storage bucket that only your household can access via short-lived, signed links — they are never public.
Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit. Within a household, all members can see items other members have added; KeepHold does not currently offer per-item visibility controls within a household.
Your choices
- Export your data: available from Settings in the app.
- Delete your data or account: available from Settings in the app, or by emailing us (below) and we'll take care of it.
- Push notifications: can be turned off at any time from your device's system settings.
Children's privacy
KeepHold is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll remove it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of KeepHold after a change means you accept the updated policy.
